Ayurveda Beats Stress! A 2-day workshop with Anne McIntyre - July 22nd & 23rd


The Clover Mill is delighted to be working with Anne McIntyre, medical herbalist and Ayurvedic practitioner, to provide a course on Ayurveda entitled ‘Ayurveda Beats Stress!’

At the Clover Mill you will be immersed in a total Ayurvedic experience in the tranquility of a rural haven.

Saturday will be a comprehensive discussion on the five elements and three doshas with the aim of you gaining a really good understanding of your own body type, and those of others too, which really helps all our relationships. Then Sunday will cover how to use ayurvedic techniques such as herbs, diet, meditation, daily routines such as self-massage and yoga, to cope with the stresses in our lives and lessen their impact on our health and happiness.

Cost is £595 sharing an eco-lodge and £695 single occupancy and this covers all the course, accommodation and meals from Friday dinner until Sunday afternoon tea.

As its going to be a full on study course, there won’t be any time for ayurvedic massages or yoga so you can extend your stay by adding a night before and 2 nights afterwards i.e. from Thursday 20th to Tuesday 25th.  This will allow you to have daily yoga classes and daily ayurvedic treatments (60-90mins) and will total £1345 sharing or £1545 single occupancy of an eco-lodge, including the course.

retreat05After discovering which focuses on ‘the use of therapeutic knitting as a healthcare tool – unravelling the neuroscience behind the bilateral, rhythmic, automatic movements and the complex combination of physiological, psychological, behavioural, social and creative benefits experienced’ we developed Knit 2 Together. There are definite similarities between the two activities of yoga and knitting. US Yogi Sara Stiles says ‘Knitting feels very meditative, like all the yoga stuff I do," she explains. "Because you're doing a similar pattern over and over, it becomes very calming. It has that effect that yoga and meditation have, that you stop thinking about all the things you have to do, and you're brought right into the moment." 

During your workshop experienced yoga teachers will focus on exercises that will improve your sitting posture, relax your shoulders, improve your vision and allow knitting to be a beneficial pastime rather than one that makes you tense and stiff. It will be aimed at beginners and experienced knitters and yogis, all levels should benefit hugely from this practice. If you are a beginner you will learn to knit too!
